The latest September UK car sales figures have revealed Hyundai is the fastest growing top 10 manufacturer in the country for sales performance. Its market share now stands at 5.3% – its best ever performance – according to the latest new car registrations data released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

The record-breaking figures represent year-on-year growth of 21.1%, helped by the success of its range of cutting-edge vehicles.  The TUCSON is a stand-out performer, maintaining its position as the most popular mid-size SUV for private buyers in the UK year to date. In one of the most competitive sectors, the TUCSON holds 5.8% share of the retail market so far this year, with an ever-increasing number of fleet customers also attracted by its generous equipment, stylish design and low-emission powertrains, including mild hybrid, hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. With 22,668 delivered this calendar year it is Hyundai’s best-selling car in Britain.

In total, sales of Hyundai vehicles to private buyers grew 28.6% year-to-date, with a total of 64,094 registrations to the end of September. Both its share of the retail and true fleet markets are at record highs, standing at 4.6% and 4.4% respectively.

The Hyundai i10 continued a strong year, outpacing the city car market by finishing September as the best-selling A-segment vehicle for the month, while the KONA remains a strong competitor in the small SUV segment with an 8.2% market share and 13,715 registrations so far in 2022. In arguably the most competitive sector, it is the third best-selling model.

Hyundai is also positioning itself as a leader in advanced electric vehicles, with over 10,000 EVs, including the World Car of the Year-winning IONIQ 5 and the KONA Electric, registered year-to-date. The Hyundai range of pure electric vehicles continues to grow, with the addition of the IONIQ 6 four-door streamliner coming to market soon.

The success of Hyundai in the UK market continues to accelerate at a rapid pace. With cutting-edge technology, world-leading design and a diverse range of electrified powertrains we have a model range that holds enormous appeal for both retail and fleet buyers in almost all segments. And as we continue to evolve those models and add brand new innovative cars to the range, it’s only a matter of time until we break more sales records.
